Geography – Year
8 Autumn
The Year 8 students are likely to have
studied various aspects of geography at their previous schools and will have
varying levels of geographical skills.
These skills, which include map reading, are vital in the subject.
Therefore, the first unit of work will be a skills unit which will be assessed
through an in-class exam.
Having gained these skills the Year 8 students complete a comparative
study of two very different countries, Japan and Bangladesh. They will gain
knowledge of aspects of life in both countries and will gain and understanding
of the processes which take place there.
The skills learnt in the previous unit will be an asset. The long unit
(l4 lessons) will be assessed through a project.
