On the 17th November Ashley Edmonds and Leah Cruttenden went to the Traveller Education Conference to represent the Traveller pupils in Merton schools. They also helped welcome guests on Reception in the morning. Here is Ashley's review of the day: 'It was a good day. In the morning there was an interview with Terry Green, a Traveller himself. He talked about his school days and also what it was like for his children in school today. I thought this interview was excellent. I agreed with what he said. I think it is important that Travellers speak out about these issues. In the afternoon the HMI for Traveller Education spoke about what schools can do to make life better for Travellers in schools. In the first workshop I met an Irish Traveller women who was a teacher in a school in Ealing. She was really confident about having her say and I enjoyed listening to her. I hope that all Travellers in Merton schools will succeed in the future. I am certainly going to try my best'

Royal Institution Maths Lectures
Three students, Laura Baker (10SMs), Zameer Mohamed (9DEh) and Andrew Bullock (9DEh), attended the Royal Institution Maths Lectures at Morden College and gained a highly deserved Certificate for their achievement. All three students attended the Lectures in their own time on Saturday mornings for a month from 25th September - 24th November 2000. Their commitment and achievement is commendable. Well Done!

THE TEMPEST School Christmas Production
The Christmas Production of 'The Tempest' was another resounding success. The production used modern, improvised dialogue as well as the original text. Music ranged from Benjamin Britten to Stravinsky, to Sting and Mozart and we were lucky enough to have an original composition by a Year 11 student. Year 11 students again did us proud by producing a magnificent set, designed by Matthew Davies, and providing a superbly efficient stage management team. A very big thank you to all the cast and production team who worked so hard.
Now I begin the work on next year's production …….. Who wants to be in it??
Ms. V. Pridham

Nickelodeon Live
On the 29th November students from 8ASd were invited to attend the Nickelodeon Studios to appear on live T.V. and to do some advertisements for them. We did the advert for ON Digital to explain how Nickelodeon will be coming to ON Digital soon. They asked us to come again. We had a great time. We got a bit worried at the beginning but eventually got the hang of it. Joe Hutchings, Joe Jones, Myles Marshall, Chris Smith and Nathen Hawse (Myles cousin who will be attending Tamworth next year) went to the studios where they got to meet the Presenters and the Camera Crew. They were all very friendly to us. We will be returning there in January to do another session.

Tamworth students did not disappoint. Through deafening support and an electric atmosphere the athletes ran their socks off - a brilliant end to a very satisfying day. Tamworth now go through to the South Final on 15th March which will also be held at Crystal Palace.
